This weekend Pinellas Access held the SunCoast Access Awards. These are annual awards held by the station with all the producers eligible to submit programs. The show won for:
Best Educational/Instructional
Best Remote Footage
and the big one.
Best Over All Show.
The awards show was started by the past station manager Ron Hebert a couple of years ago to help grow the Access program. The program has reached some success as this year there were over 50 entries in eleven categories with six "special category awards".
I submitted the Learn2Ride show that is about properly learning to ride a motorcycle. Heather Champ not only hosted the show but was an Assistant Producer on that show because she came up with the idea and contacted the MRA so we could shoot the first part of the show.
The interesting thing is after we shot the stuff with the MRA we then shot footage with the sport bike stunt team Evasive Actions. It was then almost a year before I finished the show because I needed to get all the lead-ins and that was tough to coordinate.
Then a young woman moved all the way from New York to work on the show and we shot the lead-ins and I finished up the show. It has been airing on the site, Kaneva and now Google.
I want to thank all the people that have helped me on all of the shows because this is a cumulative learning experience. The people who were involved with the Learn2Ride show are as follows:
